Scope of activity

Main scope of activity of the Environmental Protection Department covers water and waste management in the metal finishing industry (plating, anodizing, painting shops and similar) with special consideration of cleaner production technologies and utilization of wastes.

Environmental Protection Department carries out the research works of technological character, implementations, consulting and services in the range of:

  • wastewater treatment from metal finishing operations
  • application of cleaner production technologies
  • adaptation of plating shops to the requirements resulting from the Integrated Permit according to IPPC Directive
  • Best Available Techniques (BAT) in surface treatment of metals
  • new recovery methods of technological bath components
  • direct recovery methods of technological baths using Impchrome evaporator and WCCK-1 method
  • effective and economical rinsing methods

Activity of Environmental Protection Department covers also training of industrial personnel in Best Available Techniques (BAT) for Surface Treatment of Metals, which is necessary to consider in the preparation of Integrated Permit applications.
